How do you feel about having fine arts in public education?
I am working on a proposal about the absense of the fine arts and extracirricualr activities in K-12 education. The stress in this argument will be about not having enough music, theatre, art, and creative writing classes in high school, or to be more specific, public education. I am a huge fan of the fine arts, and look very much forward to the study and analysis of why this is not readily available to the population. I can already see reasons why they would not be part of the cirriculum, but to explore the reasons why the population should have them will help others, and even myself, understand the importance of the creative mind. Any and all input is highly appriciated-hopefully, studies like these can help advance the human aspect of education.
Public Comments
- I think that it should be in public education. We can't have all science and math we should have art and music too. It makes us more creative and interesting people! Same with sports!
- I think it is sad that they are lacking in public education. When a child learns how to play the piano, read music, etc. it not only helps him/her with music, but also with math. Public education should be well rounded including not only math and science, but fine arts, physical education, and plenty of interesting creative projects that can include all of the disciplines. In my humble opinion, if all children were taught as the gifted children are, they would be able to explore so much more and have fun learning. Good luck with your project. :-)
- What's wrong with reading and writing? There are already too many extracurricular activities. Our schools here are about to go bankrupt because we can't afford what we have now. Home schooling as at an all time high because parents know their kids aren't learning anything.
