I want to be a photographer, what are good photography schools?
I study under an AWESOME photographer right now. He has inspired me to be creative-- painting isn't my thing--- and photography is a strong part of my life and creativity. What are some good schools to go to, to become a photographer? What degree would photography be in?

- the art institutes
- There are three top schools in the US Art Center Brooks RIT Most of the instructors are either working pros or retired pros. http://www.artcenter.edu http://www.brooks.edu http://www.rit.edu
- NESOP in Boston (New England School Of Photography)
- Going to school for photography is a great way to get a good foundation in it. But my suggestion would be to go for something else. Major in something else as a back up plan in case your plans don't work out. I was going to do the same thing but decided to major in something else. I havn't regretted it. I know people who have a degree in photography and they are, after 5 years, working at some low end job. Honestly, you don't need schooling to be a good photographer. It's all in the heart and mind.
- I've heard great things about The School of Visual Arts in New York. I'm planning on going there after getting my AA.
